Barbour Japan, Heritage Select. In 1980, Barbour produced its first short, lightweight jacket, the Bedale. Originally designed for horse riding, the Bedale is a favorite of many Britons, from royalty to pop icons. Dame Margaret Barbour designed the Bedale with equestrian practicalities in mind, with a shorter length, relaxed fit, rear vents, and the essential nylon inner "drip strip" that provided resistance to horses' moisture seeping into the jacket. Constructed from 6oz midweight waxed cotton and fully interlocked with thermal liners and optional zip-off hoods, the Bedale is a brilliant all-year-round jacket. The classic elements of a Barbour jacket are all included, with a two-way brass zip with ring pull and a 'Stormfly' studded front, two large bellows pockets and two moleskin-lined handwarmer pockets, and the traditional studded corduroy collar with a concealed throat flap.
